A second generation fishing guide, Captain Brent Objartel, grew up on these waters.  He has gained knowledge that can only be passed down or learned through decades of experience. This experience sets Backwater Charters apart.

You could say that Captain Brent Objartel has the love of fishing in his blood, sharing the passion with his father, founder of the Lee County Professional Guides Association, his uncle, cousin and many friends – all professional Southwest Florida fishing guides. Backwater Charters

The Cape Coral native was raised on the waters of Pine Island Sound, learning every nuance of the tides, shorelines and fish.

On the rare occasion that Captain Objartel is not on his boat, he can be found at the Bayshore Fire Department, as a full time firefighter since 2004.

Captain Objartel’s best days are spent exploring the waters, the surrounding islands and, of course, enjoying a vigorous fight with a fish.

Backwater Charters' best known waters are those of Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, Captiva and Pine Island Sound. These waters surround several ideal vacation spots including Cabbage Key, Gasparilla Island, South Seas, Boca Grande and Useppa.

Inshore fishing changes with the tides.  For every season, month, moon phase or weather shift, there is a different species  to catch along with different methods, baits and locations to consider.  However, one thing is for sure, there are always fish to be caught.

Backwater Charters will plan your day on the water by determining where you are staying and what type of fishing or shelling you would like to enjoy.(Click here to see the many pick-up locations.)

While we recommend catch and release, there is no additional charge for fish cleaning. Backwater Charters
